At A Glance

All the kids are doing it! Each year thousands of secondary school students participate in YPI. They research social issues and advocate on behalf of a local grassroots charity. Why do they do this? For the awesome chance to win a grant from the Toskan Casale Foundation. YPI in the United Kingdom is generously funded by the Wood Family Trust and Credit Suisse. Kids, don't get your hopes up....the money goes directly to the local charity.

Since rocketing on the scene in 2002 at Royal St. George’s College in Toronto, YPI has blasted into over a thousand schools worldwide. YPI empowers young student philanthropists to donate over $1.2 million annually to social service programs in their communities. And the good news: What began as a great idea has become a potent agent for change globally.

The mandate to give students a hands-on experience in philanthropy will always be large in compassion and local in action.

The Future

YPI is on the grow! We can't exactly call on Einstein to do the math but believe us - the number of students and teachers requesting YPI is huge.

Charities want to be a part of YPI too. Let's face it, in a time of financial constraint, they could use a break. Students get this and they are only too happy to help out.

YPI educators agree that teaching students about compassion through a strong academic program is a key component of a young person's education. YPI is creative, resourceful and limitless. With students in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States already onboard, the opportunity for young people to effect real change in their communities through YPI is now global.
